The Celebrations of Enterro da Gata mark one of the most awaited weeks of the year. The tradition kicks off with the Serenatas and a mock-up wake called Velório, followed by the already known recreational evenings with the performance of various artists, the Academic Parade and finally the Imposition of Insignias and the Finalists’ Mass dedicated to the finalists. The event dedicated to welcoming freshmen kicks off with the Serenatas Velhas (the Old Serenades), followed by the Latada along the most emblematic streets and places of Guimarães. At last, you can also look forward to a recreational programming that will soon awaken your urge to live, create and feel our Academy’s history.
We believe in a multicultural University with opportunities in music, literature, theater, photography, digital art, among others. You will have the opportunity to participate in UMPlugged, a garage band contest, in DJ@UM, a DJ’s contest, photography contests, among many other events that aim to promote UMinho’s young talents.
