Order – 01/2022 | Assessments during Prophylactic Isolation

The pandemic emergency has accentuated pedagogical weaknesses with which students live daily in their academic life and which tend, for multiple reasons, to persist in their university context. The most recent problem was the lack of a fair and acceptable solution for students who, finding themselves in isolation, had been deprived of the possibility of being evaluated with the other students and thus lost an opportunity for evaluation.

AAUMinho could not exempt itself from its responsibility of intransigently defending the rights and interests of all students at the University of Minho. Unsatisfied with the inexistence of an alternative, the Rectory was contacted by AAUMinho and demanded a solution.

In this sense, the following was determined through Order – 01/2022 and with immediate effect:

  • Students who are unable to attend the assessments of the CU in person during the normal examination period, in the 1st semester, either due to infection with SARS-CoV-2 or because they are in prophylactic isolation may, upon presentation of the appropriate declaration, take the exam during the resit examination period.

  • Students who cannot attend the assessments in person during the resit examination period, in the 1st semester, either due to infection with SARS-CoV-2 or because they are in prophylactic isolation, may, upon presentation of the appropriate declaration, take the exam during an exceptional examination period that will take place in the 1st week of February.

  • Students who find themselves in the situation described in the first point, who take the exam during the resit examination period and do not pass it, will have access to the aforementioned exceptional exam period.

Therefore, the aforementioned determines that all students who are deprived of taking an exam during the normal examination period or resit examination period will be guaranteed all the assessment opportunities provided by the Academic Regulations of the University of Minho (RAUM), avoiding any harm in their life and academic goals.
